○ The V&A Collection ○

A Renaissance revival necklace by Schlichtegroll of Vienna from around 1855 is the inspiration for a set of regal jewels. The necklace is housed in the William and Judith Bollinger Jewellery Gallery at the V&A Museum in London.

Queen Victoria, Empress of India, was very fond of the valuable gemstones given to her by her subjects in India. Inspiration has been taken from the Collection in the V&A based on nineteenth-century designs featuring deep red garnets.

The Cheapside Hoard was uncovered by workmen in Cheapside in 1912 whilst demolishing buildings belonging to the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths. The hoard was discovered buried under the floor and it was the greatest hoard of Elizabethan and Jacobean jewellery ever found.
