For over two thousand years Lavender has been used in the home to scent linen chests, perfume soap and colognes, and as a herbal cure. The Elizabethans scattered it on the floor to scent their houses and to deter moths and insects. Lavender is mentioned several times in The Bible and was used by the Ancient Romans for bathing and cooking, and Cleopatra was said to have seduced both Julius Caeser and Mark Antony with its seductive scent.
When I think of Lavender, I think of summertime in the South of France where the sun beats down from a clear blue sky onto the deep blue flowers and perfumes the air with the heady scent. It has inspired this range of jewellery.
