It is not known when man began to dance, either solo, with a partner or in a group, however Dance has certainly played a part in ceremonies, rituals, celebrations and entertainment since the birth of civilization.

One of the earliest use of dance was in the telling of myths, handing the stories down through the generations. Many early forms of music and dance were created and performed together, such as the waltz and the tango, whilst others were created separately such as ballet being choreographed to the music of Tchaikovsky and modern dance to Scott Joplin.
